Mediation is a collaborative process of resolving disputes between two or more people using an impartial third party (the mediator).  The mediator helps the participating parties negotiate a consensual, informed, and often mutually beneficial agreement.  Within divorce settlements, it is often preferred to enter into mediation rather than the more grueling litigation process.  Mediation provides an honest, safe, and comfortable place for individuals to have open discussions about their wants, needs, and additional details relating to separation and divorce (including but not limited to: communication, transition planning, financial planning, parenting, asset and liability distribution, child support, and spousal support).  It is important to remember that, during the mediation process, you remain in control and make your own decisions.
