Kathryn Claessens-Patrino

Kathryn is registered as a Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She is extremely passionate about her work and wants to help you explore your life and experiences in a safe and comfortable environment.

One of the bravest things you can do is invest in yourself and begin to understand your story. Our minds create a story involving every part of our lives – and the way we tell this story is incredibly important.

Kathryn wants to support you in understanding your story and shifting towards an improved perspective that allows you to tackle the complexities of being human. Instead of focusing on criticizing and fixing, Kathryn focuses on helping you develop the mindset needed to feel stronger, accepting, and more loving towards yourself and others.

In each session, Kathryn brings her own authenticity and vulnerability. Therapy can be intimidating, but she hopes that her genuine nature will make it feel natural and safe. Her goal is to help you recognize your strengths, expand your perspective as the foundation for developing better habits and ways of navigating life. Kathryn is incredibly passionate about assisting both couples and individuals in working through various issues, but her core interests are relationship issues, anxiety, depression, sexuality, men’s mental health, and personal identity development.

Kathryn knows that you are unique and bring unique strengths and challenges, so your treatment plan will reflect your personal needs and wants. While the approach taken depends on you and your needs, she primarily draws upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
