Taryn holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and a Master of Counselling from Gonzaga University. She is a Provisionally Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Taryn utilizes an integrative approach to therapy that varies depending on specific and individualized needs, primarily drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person- Centered Therapy. Techniques may also be employed that stem from art therapy, play therapy and mindfulness.

 

In her previous employment, Taryn worked as a teacher and a Learning Leader with the Calgary Board of Education. She has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. Taryn has spent most of her time with the Calgary Board of Education in their specialized settings, supporting students with emotional, social, behavioural, and learning challenges. Taryn especially enjoys working with youth of all ages, and her areas of interest include, anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Executive Functioning skills, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder and emotional dysregulation. Taryn also enjoys working with adults struggling with anxiety, and depression.

 

Taryn believes that it is essential to create a warm and caring environment, where youth and adults can feel supported and understood. When Taryn is not working she is busy enjoying her friends and family or taking her pup to the park.  Taryn is available evenings and weekends.
